The South African Radio League (SARL) is the National Association for Amateur Radio in South Africa.
It is a registered non-profit organisation with the broad objective of ensuring that amateur radio in South Africa is aligned with international standards through its membership of the IARU Region 1.
Locally the licensing of amateurs are performed by ICASA and not by the SARL, although the SARL endeavours to cultivate close ties with all regulatory bodies.
The SARL currently has around 1600 members and is very ably guided by 10 Councillors that have vast experience in amateur radio and associated matters. Comments are welcome by email to email@example.com
A short bio with portfolios for each Councillor follows:
Louw Erasmus, ZS6LME, was born in 1956 (that makes him a Boomer) and has been a Radio Amateur since 2004. He is an Admitted Attorney, Notary and Conveyancer in the Pretoria area. Louw is married with 3 children who also made him a proud Grandfather.
Louw is using his experience to manage the legal and regulatory compliance portfolio.

He was employed by IBM in the Global Services Division before branching out to do his own thing as a Senior Project Manager. He prefers working digital modes and is very active on beacons. Leon is married with three children and even some grandchildren.
